Lalon Memorial Festival Celebrates Mystic Poet’s Legacy at Madhupur

Madhupur: The Lalon Memorial Festival 2025 took place at Madhupur Rani Bhabani Model Government High School grounds, celebrating the 134th death anniversary of the revered mystic poet Lalon Saiji.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was marked by a discussion on the life and philosophy of Lalon, who is also recognized as Lalon Shah and Lalon Fakir. His significant contributions as a Bengali spiritual leader, philosopher, mystic poet, and social reformer were highlighted during the festival.



The discussion was presided over by Madhupur Lalon Sangha President, Associate Professor Farhad Hossain Tarafdar, with moderation by Madhupur Lalon Sangha Adviser SM Shaheed. Key speakers included Madhupur Upazila Executive Officer Md. Zubayer Hossain, Madhupur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Emranul Kabir, Lalon Memorial Festival convener Md. Sabuj Mia, Madhupur Municipality BNP General Secretary Khandaker Motaleb Hossain, and Tangail Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Coordinator Fatema Rahman Bithi.



The program commenced with a minute’s silence in memory of the late journalist MA Rouf, who served as an adviser to the Madhupur Lalon Sangha. The cultural segment, led by Madhupur Lalon Sangha advisor Alok Kumar Chowdhury, featured performances by Lalon artists Shahabul, Baul Rashid, Nargis, Moon Monalisa, Kajal Rekha, and regular artists of Madhupur Lalon Sangha from Kushtia, honoring Lalon’s legacy through music.
