Chattogram: Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain today said that the corporation wants to ensure a fair holding tax system without imposing any additional tax. He called upon the city residents to pay holding tax regularly to help transform Chattogram into a green and clean city while inaugurating ‘Tax Fair 2025’ as chief guest on the ground floor of Premier University at city’s WASA intersection.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mayor Dr. Shahadat emphasized the need for increased tax collection to make CCC financially self-sufficient, noting that adequate financial support is not being provided for the maintenance of the city’s infrastructure. He mentioned that the CCC has already written a letter to the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) urging them to pay their dues.

Dr. Shahadat highlighted the damage caused to the roads by heavy vehicles, weighing between 70 to 80 tons, which transport goods to and from the CPA. He pointed out that despite this, the necessary financial ba
cking for infrastructure maintenance is lacking.

The event was presided over by CCC Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Muhammad Touhidul Islam. Also present were Chief Revenue Officer Sarwar Kamal, Chief Cleaning Officer Commander Ikhtiar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Revenue Officer Md. Sabbir Rahman Sunny, and other officials from the Revenue Department.
