Dhaka: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today set April 22 for submitting the probe report in a crimes against humanity case related to the atrocities that occurred in the city's Chankharpul area during the student-led July-August mass uprising. "The three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order, allowing a time plea of the prosecution," Prosecutor BM Sultan Mahmud stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, today was initially the deadline for submitting the probe report in the case ICT BD Misc 1/25. The three accused, then officer-in-charge (operations) of Shahbagh Police Station Arshad Hossain, along with constables Imaj Hossain Pramanik and Sujon Hossain, were presented before the tribunal for the hearing. However, the prosecution requested an additional two months to file the report.
The ICT has placed Arshad Hossain and Imaj Hossain Pramanik on a one-day remand each in connection with the case. Arshad will be interrogated on March 2, while Pramanik will be questioned on March 3. Additionally, the tribunal ordered a one-day remand for then sub-inspector of police Chanchal Kumar Sarkar on February 27.
Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam, along with prosecutors BM Sultan Mahmud, Shahidul Islam Sardar, and Gazi MH Tamim, participated in the hearing.
