Dhaka: Rangpur Riders coach Mickey Aurther, a prominent figure in the cricketing world, praised the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for its role in developing young talent. Aurther emphasized the competition's potential to foster world-class players for Bangladesh, highlighting the positive impact of the tournament.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Aurther shared his insights on the BPL's evolution since his previous stint with Dhaka Dynamites in 2015. He noted improvements in fan engagement and the overall atmosphere, along with a larger talent pool now available. Aurther commended the franchises for their progress, describing the current environment as much better than it was in the past.
Aurther's coaching career spans several international teams, including South Africa, Australia, and Pakistan. He led Pakistan to victory in the 2017 Champions Trophy against India. Currently focused on franchise cricket, Aurther has guided Rangpur Riders to success, including a Global Super League win in the West Indies. He praised the professionalism and management of the Rangpur Riders franchise, acknowledging the competitive nature of the BPL.
Despite forming a strong team, Rangpur Riders have faced challenges in the BPL, securing the trophy only once and exiting in the playoffs in recent seasons.
