Dhaka: The eighth round of Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League football is set to commence tomorrow (Friday) at three venues across the country. On the opening day, league leaders Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited will face Brothers Union Club at Birshrestha Flight Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj. Bangladesh Police Football Club will compete against Chittagong Abahani Limited at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh, while Fakirerpool Young Men's Club will take on Dhaka Wanderers Club at Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur. All matches are scheduled to begin at 2:45 pm.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mohammedan Sporting Club currently holds the top position in the league standings with 21 points from seven matches. Brothers Union Club occupies the fourth position with 14 points. Bangladesh Police FC stands at seventh place with seven points, while Chittagong Abahani Limited remains at the bottom without any points. Dhaka Wanderers Club is in eighth position with four points, followed closely by Fakirerpool Young Men's Club with three points.
Earlier in the season, Mohammedan Sporting Club had an impressive run, defeating Dhaka Wanderers Club 6-0 and securing narrow victories against Bashundhara Kings and Abahani Limited Dhaka. They also defeated Bangladesh Police Football Club 3-1 and claimed a 5-1 victory over Chittagong Abahani Limited. Brothers Union Club managed to secure wins against Bangladesh Police Football Club and Dhaka Wanderers Club, while Chittagong Abahani Limited suffered defeats in all their matches.
In the other fixtures, Bangladesh Police Football Club had a mixed performance, managing a win against Fakirerpool but suffering losses to teams like Bashundhara Kings and Mohammedan. Fakirerpool managed to win against Chittagong Abahani Limited, while Dhaka Wanderers Club struggled in their matches, suffering heavy defeats against Mohammedan and others.
The eighth round will continue on the following day (Saturday), with Abahani Limited Dhaka playing against Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society at Munshiganj Stadium. The reigning champions, Bashundhara Kings, will meet Fortis Football Club at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital.
