Dhaka: All political parties and stakeholders have reached an agreement to formalize the proclamation of the July Revolution, as confirmed by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today. "We will be able to determine the name (of the proclamation) by whatever the name you call it - today we all agreed on that," Prof Yunus stated during his concluding speech at a meeting held at the Foreign Service Academy.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the interim government, led by Chief Adviser Prof Yunus, convened an all-party meeting to deliberate on the July proclamation. Prof Yunus emphasized the importance of preserving the original spirit of the July revolution. He remarked, "We will keep the unique things in writing. Otherwise, when we leave, none can remember what happened (during the July mass uprising). Did it happen suddenly, or were there many things behind it (the movement), which exploded at that moment?"
Addressing the political leaders present at the meeting, Prof Yunus expressed optimism about the nation's response to the consensus reached. "The whole nation will feel encouraged today as they sit together. We discussed a very important issue and a beautiful solution was brought out too (from the meeting)," he added.
Prof Yunus highlighted the significance of documenting the events of the mass uprising to ensure that future generations understand the context and impact of the revolution. He suggested that the July proclamation should encapsulate the aspirations, sufferings, enthusiasm, and revolutionary spirit experienced by the people during the uprising.
The meeting saw participation from representatives of various political parties and organizations, including the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Jamaat-e-Islami, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, and the Nagorik Committee. The primary objective was to finalize the July proclamation, cementing a unified narrative of the July Revolution.
