Rajshahi: A teacher of Rajshahi University (RU), who sustained injuries in a road accident at the intersection of Baro Rasta in Rajshahi city on Monday noon, succumbed to his injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in the early hours of today. The deceased was Dr Puranjeet Mahalder, an associate professor of the Bangla Department at RU.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Puranjeet, who was critically injured in the accident, breathed his last at RMCH around 2:30 am on Tuesday while receiving treatment. This information was confirmed by Dr Akhter Hossen Majumder, the administrator of RU Public Relations Department.
After the accident, Dr Puranjeet was immediately taken to RMCH, where he was provided treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Despite the medical efforts, he could not survive the severe injuries sustained.
In a condolence message, Jamil Raihan, President of the RU's Bangla Department Alumni Association, and Shahid Iqbal, its General Secretary, expressed deep shock and sorrow at the passing of Dr Puranjeet Mahalder.
