Dhaka: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam BPM today urged police personnel to intensify their efforts in combating crime. 'We have to work with honesty and stay on the path of justice. We have to make 100 percent efforts to stop extortion, robbery and murder,' he stated during a monthly crime review meeting held at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the police chief emphasized the need for professionalism in suppressing crimes such as extortion and drug abuse. The meeting was presided over by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sajjat Ali, who advocated for a zero tolerance policy against robbers and extortionists. 'Robbers and extortionists should be arrested. DMP police stations should play a more active role in this regard. Everyone should perform their professional duties with a sense of responsibility and enthusiasm. If everyone works together, the people's full trust in the police will return,' he added.

At the meeting, the DMP Commissioner recognized the efforts of various DMP officers by awarding them in different categories for their exemplary work in maintaining law and order as well as public safety in Dhaka Metropolitan City in December.
