Dhaka: The family members of martyr Abu Sayed today filed a complaint over his death against 25 people at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT). Confirming the matter to newsmen, ICT Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam stated that Abu Sayed's elder brother Ramjan Ali and Sayed's friends, who were present on the scene during the incident, were involved in filing the complaint.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the family had already filed a case with a Rangpur court regarding Sayed's death. However, considering that the killing of Abu Sayed falls under the category of crimes against humanity, they decided to approach the ICT. The chief prosecutor mentioned that the family initially made a verbal complaint, which they later formalized in writing. He assured that necessary actions would follow based on the complaint.
Abu Sayed, a student of the English Department at Begum Rokeya University, was shot to death by police on July 16, 2024, during a student-led mass uprising.
