RANGPUR: The interim government announced its commitment to establishing a non-discriminatory welfare state, focusing on justice, social security, and the protection of political and economic rights for all citizens. This declaration was made during an open discussion organized by the district administration and the Department of Social Services (DSS) to mark National Social Services Day-2025 at the Shilpokola Academy auditorium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was celebrated with various activities, including a walkathon, tributes to martyrs, and a cultural function. Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) of Rangpur division, Md Asaduzzaman, served as the main discussant. He emphasized the opportunities created by the July Revolution to build a new Bangladesh centered on human and economic rights, justice, and social security.
Md Asaduzzaman stated that achieving a non-discriminatory welfare state based on justice, equality, and human values is possible through united efforts. He also highlighted the role of students in shaping the future welfare state, urging them to become worthy citizens through hard work and perseverance.
The event's activities began with a walkathon from Rangpur Zilla School Ground to the Shilpokola Academy auditorium. Participants in the open discussion included Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal, Rangpur Range DIG of Bangladesh Police Aminul Islam, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Majid Ali, Superintendent of Police Md Abu Saim, and Rangpur Divisional Social Services Office Director Most Jilufa Sultana, among others. The event also saw participation from the family of martyrs and student movement leaders.
