DHAKA: The government has taken a significant step towards enhancing its energy infrastructure by approving a proposal to appoint an operations and maintenance contractor for the Single Point Mooring (SPM) installation through an Open Tender Method (OTM). This decision marks a shift from the previous Government-to-Government (G2G) approach. The approval was granted during a meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs (ACCEA) held at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was chaired by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed and was convened at the Cabinet Division conference room. The Energy and Mineral Resources Division presented the proposal, which received the committee's nod. By choosing the OTM approach, the government aims to ensure transparency and competitiveness in the selection process for the contractor responsible for the SPM's operations and maintenance.
