DHAKA: The Bangladesh government has appointed six new members to the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC), as confirmed through official gazette notifications. The appointments are expected to bolster the leadership of the commission, which plays a critical role in the recruitment and management of public sector employees.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the appointments were made by the President under the authority granted by clause 138 (1) of the constitution. Deputy Secretary Abul Hayat Md Rafique signed the notifications issued by the Contract and Foreign Employment Section of the Ministry of Public Administration. The newly appointed members include Professor Dr. Shahnaz Sarkar, Md Munir Hossain, Brigadier General (retired) Dr. AF Jaglul Ahmed, Dr. Md Mizanur Rahman, Sabbir Ahmed Chowdhury, and Professor Dr. Syeda Shahina Subhan.
The notifications specify that the appointments are valid for five years from the date of joining or until the appointees reach the age of 65, whichever comes first. This strategic move aims to enhance the functionality and efficiency of the BPSC, ensuring that it continues to effectively serve the public sector employment needs of the nation.
