DHAKA: National Social Service Day-2025 will be observed across the country tomorrow, organized by the Ministry of Social Welfare through a series of programs aimed at promoting support for marginalized communities. The theme for this year, “Those who have no one by their side, have social service (Nei Pashe Kew Jar, Somaj Seba Ache Tar),” underscores the importance of extending social services to those in need.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus have conveyed their wishes for the success of the events planned for National Social Service Day-2025. In his statement, President Shahabuddin emphasized the necessity of ensuring that the benefits of welfare activities and national development efforts are accessible to all, particularly to those who are destitute and helpless.
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus highlighted the efforts of the Department of Social Services under the Ministry of Social Welfare, which is dedicated to improving the lives of poverty-stricken individuals, the elderly, disadvantaged children and adolescents, widows, victims of domestic violence, seriously ill patients, and other marginalized groups. He noted that the department is effectively implementing social safety net programs throughout Bangladesh.
Professor Yunus also remarked that the theme for this year’s celebration is both relevant and timely, acknowledging the vital role social services play in supporting those who lack other forms of assistance. As part of the day’s observance, Social Welfare Adviser Sharmeen S Murshid is scheduled to participate as the chief guest in an open discussion on Manik Mia Avenue next to the National Parliament at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow.
