Dhaka: The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted dry weather conditions across the country for the next 24 hours, starting from this morning. The weather is expected to remain dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies, prompting potential disruptions in air and river transport as well as road communication due to anticipated fog.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ridge of the sub-continental high extends into West Bengal and its adjoining areas, while a seasonal low pressure lies over the South Bay, extending through to the Northeast Bay. These conditions could lead to moderate to dense fog formation over the country from midnight to morning, possibly persisting until noon in certain locations.
The BMD cautioned that thick fog could temporarily disrupt air navigation, inland river transport, and road communication. Additionally, the night temperature may slightly decrease in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Khulna divisions while remaining nearly unchanged elsewhere in the country. Daytime temperatures are expected to fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, whereas they may rise by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius in the Rajshahi division and remain stable in other regions.
The dense fog may also result in a persistent cold feeling during the daytime in some areas. The highest temperature recorded on Tuesday was 29.5 degrees Celsius in Teknaf, while the lowest was 10.6 degrees Celsius in Dinajpur. In the capital, the sun is set to rise at 6:42 AM and set at 5:22 PM.
