PANCHAGARH: A total of 2,000 blankets were distributed to the impoverished and cold-affected residents of Sadar upazila in Panchagarh, providing relief amid the harsh winter conditions. The distribution event took place at the Sadar Harivasha and Kajoldigi Union Parishad premises, coordinated by activists from the Anti-discrimination Students Movement and the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sarjis Alam, one of the coordinators of the Anti-discrimination Students Movement and the general secretary of the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation, facilitated the distribution. Although not physically present, Alam addressed attendees through an audio conference, emphasizing the collective effort required to alleviate the winter hardships faced by Panchagarh's residents. He called upon affluent and influential individuals to support the cold-affected poor, highlighting the importance of community solidarity in tackling seasonal challenges. The event saw participation from notable figures, including Harivasha UP Chairman Nur-e-Alam, Public Prosecutor of District Session Judge Court Advocate Adom Sufi, Sarjis Alam's father Aktaruzzaman Saju, and district coordinator of the Anti-discrimination Students Movement Fajle Rabbi, alongside other activists.
