Dhaka: The general point-to-point inflation rate in Bangladesh experienced a slight increase in November, reaching 11.38 percent, up from 10.87 percent in October 2024. This rise marks a continuation of inflationary pressures, with significant contributions from both food and non-food sectors. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the latest data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) indicates that the increase was primarily driven by a rise in food inflation, which climbed to 13.80 percent in November from 12.66 percent in October. This upward trend in food prices has significantly impacted the overall inflation rate in the country. Meanwhile, non-food inflation also showed a slight increase, reaching 9.39 percent in November, up from 9.34 percent in the previous month. This suggests that while food prices were the main contributor to the inflation rise, non-food items also played a role in the overall increase. The inflation rate in both urban and rural areas saw an uptick in November. In ru ral areas, the point-to-point inflation rate rose to 11.53 percent from 11.26 percent in October. Food inflation in these areas climbed to 13.41 percent in November from 12.75 percent in October. However, non-food inflation in rural areas slightly decreased to 9.72 percent in November, from 9.76 percent in October. Conversely, in urban areas, the point-to-point inflation rate in November was 11.37 percent, up from 10.44 percent in October.
