Dhaka: Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury assured that Bangladesh’s sovereignty remains intact and unthreatened. Speaking to journalists during the inauguration of the International Volunteer Day at the Fire Service and Civil Defence Multipurpose Training ground at Purbachal, Rupganj in Narayanganj, he emphasized the security of the nation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the home adviser criticized the Indian media for spreading propaganda against Bangladesh, stating that no other media globally engages in such activities. He urged the Bangladeshi media to counter these narratives by publishing the truth, emphasizing national unity in condemning such propaganda.
The home adviser also remarked on the recent national unity following meetings between political parties and the chief adviser, describing it as a positive development. He expressed confidence in collaborative efforts to address any arising issues.
When questioned about Bangladesh-India relations, Jahangir dismissed c
oncerns, indicating no existing anxiety. He also addressed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s call for UN forces in Bangladesh, suggesting it was a mistaken statement and countered by pointing to the need for UN intervention in India to address minority repression.
Jahangir also commented on the law and order situation, noting improvements since the conditions post-August 5. He anticipated further enhancements in the coming times.
