Dhaka: Mohammed Aminul Hakim, the Chief Executive Officer of Amber IT Limited, has been elected as the Chairperson of the new executive committee of the Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum (BIGF) for the 2024-2026 tenure. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the other office bearers of the executive committee include Vice Chairman Saidur Rahman, who is the General Manager of Bangladesh Submarine Cables, and Md Saimum Reza Talukder, a Senior Lecturer at the School of Law, BRAC University. The Secretary General position has been filled by Mohammad Abdul Haque Anu, who serves as the Executive Secretary of Computer Jagat, while A H M Bazlur Rahman, the Chief Executive Officer of BNNRC, has been named as an Executive Member. The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) functions as a multi-stakeholder governance group aimed at facilitating policy dialogue on issues concerning internet governance. The Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum (BIGF) was established to enhance internet governance activities in alignment w ith the United Nations. It serves as a multi-stakeholder platform tasked with overseeing various internet-related activities and advising the government on developing internet usage policies within Bangladesh. Upon his election, Aminul Hakim emphasized the importance of constructing internet policies not only on a local scale but internationally as well. He stated, "We need to frame internet policies with multi-stakeholders to eliminate discrimination. We are committed to working on those issues."
