Dhaka: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has set January 19 as the date for hearing three review petitions seeking the restoration of the 13th amendment to the constitution and the reinstatement of the poll-time non-party caretaker government (CG) system. This decision was made by a full bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, who adjourned the hearing this morning. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, senior advocate Zainul Abedin, Advocate Sharif Bhuiyan, and Mohammad Shishir Manir represented the pleas in the courtroom, while Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman appeared on behalf of the state. The review petitions were filed by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Miah Golam Parwar, and Badiul Alam Majumdar, Secretary of rights organization Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik. These three pleas will be heard concurrently on the scheduled date.
