Jalshiri: Jalshiri RunBangla Half Marathon will be held on Saturday in the Jalshiri Housing Project area near Purbachal. Engineer in Chief of Bangladesh Army Major General Hasan Uz Zaman is expected to be present as the chief guest for the event. The event will also feature Jalshiri housing project managing director Brigadier General Md Saifur Rahman and Bangladesh Army Sports Control Board chairman Brigadier General Md Humayun Kabir as special guests. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Jalshiri RunBangla Half Marathon is a running event coordinated with the Bangladesh Athletics Federation. It is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIIMS) and listed by AIIMS. The event will see participation from 1,900 male and female contestants from various parts of the country and abroad, aiming to highlight both amateur and professional runners. Additionally, the marathon seeks to address issues such as depression and drug addiction among the youth. The event also aims to raise awareness about breast cancer in women, aligning with the ongoing global campaign to prevent the disease. Jalshiri RunBangla Half Marathon has announced its solidarity with this initiative and plans to honor it through the event. The marathon is sponsored by the Bangladesh Army through 'Jalshiri Abashan' and is powered by Turag Active. Gold sponsors include Trust Bank PLC, Army Sports Control Board, City Bank PLC, Mutual Trust Bank PLC, and Ventra International.
