Dhaka: The World Bank has launched an exhibition, showcasing an inspiring collection of wall arts created by students and youths from across the country, reflecting their hopes and aspirations for a prosperous and inclusive Bangladesh. Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed today inaugurated the exhibition, titled "Paint Your Sky, Make it Yours: Future Bangladesh in the eyes of the youth" at DrikPath Bhaban, Panthapath in the city. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the exhibition features vibrant wall arts painted by students and youth across the country, highlighting their vision and the issues they consider important for the future of the country. The artworks come from 12 districts, including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet, Chattogram, Barishal, Cumilla, Rangpur, Rangamati, Khagrachari, and Bandarban. Speaking on the occasion, the Finance Adviser emphasized the unique power of art as a medium of expression. He reminisced about the famous painter Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin, whose artwork during the famine profoundly impacted society. Dr. Salehuddin expressed gratitude to the World Bank for organizing such an event and emphasized that the sky serves as a metaphor for limitless expression and hope. He encouraged the publication of a book featuring selected paintings for the Chief Adviser and praised the youths for making their parents proud with their creativity. Abdoulaye Seck, World Bank Country Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan, highlighted the significant role of youth in shaping the present and future. He praised Bangladeshi students and youths for using their creativity to voice their concerns and priorities amidst challenging times. The exhibition, he noted, serves as a platform to listen to the youth's vision for the country. Seck also remarked on the powerful movements in July and August that inspired the youths to channel their energy and creativity into these wall arts. He acknowledged the unique contribution of Bangladeshi youth in depicting their vision for a new Bangladesh through art. Th e World Bank, as a longstanding development partner of Bangladesh, recognizes the pivotal role of youth in shaping the nation's future. The exhibition at DrikPath Bhaban will be open to the public from November 23 to November 30, 2024, from 3 to 8 pm daily. The opening ceremony also featured the launch of a publication and a video. The World Bank's partnership with Bangladesh spans over 50 years, with significant financial commitments to support the country's development priorities. Currently, Bangladesh hosts the largest International Development Association (IDA) program globally, with nearly $16 billion in financing for 52 ongoing projects, reaffirming the World Bank as Bangladesh's largest development partner.
