Dhaka: The Bangladesh tennis team shrugged off their previous match defeat as they bounced back to beat Yemen in their second group D match of the "2024 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group-5" tennis tournament held today in Isa Town, Bahrain. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in the first singles match, Mohammad Rustam Ali of Bangladesh claimed victory over Mohammad Makki of Yemen with scores of 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. However, the second singles encounter saw Bangladesh's Zarif Abrar lose to Al Ansi Hassan of Yemen, with a scoreline of 3-6, 3-6. In the doubles event, the Bangladeshi pair of Hanif Munna and Zarif Abrar secured a win against Yemen's duo, Al Ansi Hasan and Issaq Al Hasan, with a score of 7-5, 6-4. Bangladesh is set to compete against Tajikistan tomorrow. The team previously suffered a 3-0 defeat to host Bahrain in their opening group match. The competition includes teams from host Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Laos, Macau, Maldives, Mongolia, Yemen, Nepal, Tajikistan, Guam, Turkmenistan, Northern Marina Island, and the Philippines. The tournament is sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation and managed by the Bahrain Tennis Federation.
