Thakurgaon: Three footballers from Thakurgaon -- Sapna Rani, Kohati Kisku, and Sagarika -- who led their team to victory in the SAFF Women's Championship for the second consecutive time were given a grand reception in their hometown today. Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner Ishrat Farzana accorded the reception to them at her office on Thursday afternoon. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the reception ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Thakurgaon Police Superintendent Sheikh Zahidul Islam, Additional District Magistrate Sardar Mostafa Shahin, acting president of Thakurgaon Press Club Lutfar Rahman Mithu, and founder of Rangatungi United Football Academy Tajul Islam. During the event, the deputy commissioner listened to the success stories of the women footballers and assured them of ongoing support. Bangladesh secured the prestigious SAFF Women's Championship title for the second time in a row, emerging victorious after a hard-fought 2-1 win against hosts Nepal in the final at Dash arath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu. The remarkable achievement has been celebrated nationwide, with the three Thakurgaon footballers being hailed as local heroes for their contributions to the national team's success.
