New York: The Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York has introduced a new option for payment of all consular fees via credit card, enhancing service transparency, accountability, and user-friendliness. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the initiative, which commenced on Tuesday, aims to modernize and streamline consular services. This new measure seeks to provide a more efficient and convenient payment process for individuals utilizing consular services. However, it should be noted that a 3 percent bank surcharge will be applied to each transaction made through credit card for any government-determined fees. This surcharge is a mandatory fee set by the bank for processing credit card payments. Additionally, the existing system for paying fees through money orders will remain in place, providing flexibility for service recipients. This ensures that individuals who prefer traditional payment methods can continue to use them without any inconvenience. The Consulate General has encouraged all se rvice users to take advantage of this new facility for paying government fees conveniently with credit cards. This initiative reflects the consulate's commitment to improving service delivery and adapting to technological advancements.
