TANGAIL: The 48th death anniversary of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani was observed in the town with enthusiasm today. Different political and socio-cultural organizations, including the Vice Chancellor of Maulana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Professor Dr. Anwarul Azim Akhand, and Gano Adhikar Parishad, placed floral wreaths at the mausoleum of Bhashani’s grave at Shantosh in the town this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a mourning rally, discussion, and a Doa Mahfil were also organized on the occasion of Bhashani’s death anniversary in Tangail. A seven-day-long Mela was kicked off at the shrine of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani today, drawing a huge number of Bhashani disciples to the site.
Maulana Bhashani, the founder president of the Muslim Awami League, was popularly known as Mozlum Jananeta. He died on November 17 in 1976 at the then PG Hospital in the capital and was buried in Tangail.
