Benapole: The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has completed the operations for installing a mobile container scanner at Benapole Port in a bid to infuse dynamism in import and export operations. The NBR hopes this move will help to infuse dynamism in the import and export operations at the Benapole Land Port, while the esteemed businessmen would be able to complete their import and export operations at the fastest possible time, said an NBR press release here today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, efforts are underway to install a fixed container scanner at the Benapole Land Port under the supervision of the NBR. Adviser to the interim government on the Ministry of Shipping, Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain, during his visit to the Benapole Land Port on November 14, inaugurated the newly built cargo terminal and directed the authorities concerned to install a scanner at the port.
Following his directives, a mobile container scanner, which was earlier installed at Pangaon Port on a tempo
rary basis, has been installed at Benapole Land Port considering national interest since installation of fixed container scanners is time-consuming. Bangladesh Customs uses fixed container scanners, mobile container scanners, and different types of devices at various ports and land customs stations in import and export operations in a bid to simplify trade, reduce time for unloading of goods, and prevent smuggling.
