The deceased, identified as Irani, aged 5, and Abdul Gani, aged 4, were the children of Masud Rana, a grocery shop owner residing in the Srifaltala Chandansri area under Rupsha upazila.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rupsha Police Station Md Monirul Islam stated that the siblings fell ill after eating an apple during dinner. The children were initially taken to a local health complex but were later transferred to Khulna General Hospital due to worsening conditions.
