Dhaka: A court here has imposed a travel ban on former mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation, Dr. Selina Hayat Ivy, over allegations of corruption. Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain passed the order on November 6, accepting a plea from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Court Inspector Amir Hossain told BSS today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, ACC Deputy Director Mohammad Neyamul Ahsan Gazi filed the plea on that day, requesting a travel ban on the former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor. The anti-graft body stated in its plea that they are investigating allegations of misusing power and amassing illegal wealth through corruption and irregularities against Ivy.

The petitioner argued that Ivy might attempt to flee the country to evade justice, and therefore, a travel ban should be imposed to prevent her from escaping.
