Dhaka: Adviser for Primary and Mass Education, Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder, announced today that the government plans to reinforce the feeding programme in primary schools in phases to address the issue of student dropout. Dr. Podder emphasized the need for schools to be appealing to students so they can enjoy their learning experience. He stated that the feeding programme would be gradually introduced at the primary level. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Podder made these remarks while addressing a programme as the chief guest at the release of a research study titled 'Dissemination of the Effectiveness Study of the Revised Diploma in Primary Education.' The event was organized by the Primary Education Academy and the European Union at a city hotel. Dr. Podder highlighted the pivotal role of the primary and mass education ministry in ensuring that primary education is both compulsory and universal. He acknowledged the efforts of primary-level teachers in shaping students into respon sible citizens. Dr. Podder also underscored the importance of education in developing citizens who contribute positively to society, stating that achieving this goal is unattainable without a solid educational foundation. The event featured speeches from other notable figures, including Primary and Mass Education Secretary Farid Ahmed, Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Dr. Md Abdul Hakim, and EU Head of Development Cooperation Michal Krejza. National Academy for Primary Education (NAPE) Farid Ahmed presided over the occasion. In addition to the speeches, EU Consultant Deborah Wyburn, along with NAPE assistant experts Mahbubur Rahman and ATM Rafez, presented the study papers, highlighting the findings and implications of the research study.
