TANGAIL: A total of five battery-run auto-vans were distributed among beggars in Basail upazila under the Beggar Rehabilitation and Alternative Employment Programme of the district today. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sharifa Haque handed over the five battery-run auto-vans as the chief guest among the five beggars of the upazila under the initiative of the upazila administration and social services office this morning. Basail Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shahrukh Khan chaired the event. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the distribution ceremony was attended by several dignitaries. Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Neamat Ullah, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Sharli Hamid, officer-in-charge (OC) of Basail Police Station Jalal Uddin, Upazila Agriculture Officer Shahjahan Ali, and Upazila Social Service Officer Nur-e-Laila were present. Additionally, Fulki Union Parishad Chairman Shamsul Alam Biju, Kashil Union Parishad Chairman Ramzan Mia, and Kanchanpur Union Parishad Chairman Shami m Al Mamun also attended the event. The distribution of these auto-vans is part of a broader effort to provide alternative employment opportunities for beggars in the district, aiming to improve their quality of life.
