Dhaka: There has been no arrests or crackdowns on the supporters of US president-elect Donald Trump in Bangladesh, according to Chief Adviser's Press Wing Facts. The press wing clarified this information amid circulating rumors regarding a crackdown on Trump's supporters in the country. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Adviser's Press Wing stated that dozens of activists from the Awami League party were arrested in Dhaka on Sunday. These individuals, whose party leaders have faced accusations of mass murders, corruption, and money laundering, were charged with planning subversive activities in the capital. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police issued a statement, included in the comments section of the press wing's post, confirming the arrests. It was noted that some arrested individuals were carrying photos of Donald Trump following instructions from the fugitive Awami League leader, Sheikh Hasina. Those detained claimed they were not followers of US politics and carried the posters solely on Hasina's orders.
