Bangladesh: Bangladesh Bank (BB) has permitted the import of 11 essential commodities on up to 90 days credit, aiming to ensure their smooth supply and maintain reasonable prices during the next Ramadan. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BB announced this decision through a circular issued today. The commodities that can be imported under this deferred payment scheme include rice, wheat, onion, pulse, edible oil, sugar, egg, chickpea, pea, spices, and dates. This move is designed to manage the supply and pricing of necessary food items during the holy month of Ramadan by allowing imports on usance terms under supplier's or buyer's credit. The central bank specified that this benefit will be available until March 31 of the next year. The initiative reflects BB's commitment to stabilizing the market and ensuring essential commodities remain accessible and affordable during a crucial period for consumers.
