Dhaka: The Bangladesh tennis team is gearing up to depart for Bahrain on November 18 to participate in the '2024 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group-5' tennis tournament. This prestigious event is scheduled to take place from November 18 to 24 in Isa Town. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the tournament will feature teams from various countries, including host Bahrain, Bhutan, Brunei, Laos, Macau, Maldives, Mongolia, Yemen, Nepal, Tajikistan, Guam, Turkmenistan, Northern Mariana Islands, and the Philippines. The competition is sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation and will be managed by the Bahrain Tennis Federation. Participating teams will initially be divided into four groups to compete in the group phase matches through a round-robin league format. The top two teams from these groups will earn promotion to Group-4 and will compete in the 2025 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania region group-4. A press conference was held today at the conference room of the Bangladesh Tennis Federation (BTF) to provide details about the tournament. The event was attended by BTF General Secretary Abu Sayeed Mohammad Haider, Treasurer and Bangladesh Team Captain Khaled Ahmed, Executive Members Akhtaruzzaman Mukul and Sheikh Md Aslam, and BTF Councilor Trinath Das.
