Baku: Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus today left here for Azerbaijan's capital Baku on a four-day state visit to attend the global climate summit "Conference of Parties-29 (COP-29)". "A flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the chief adviser and his entourage members departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11 am," CA's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam told BSS. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alam earlier announced that the chief adviser will be in Azerbaijan from November 11 to 14 to participate in the climate meet. The visit is expected to be a busy one for Prof Yunus, as Bangladesh plans to highlight the country's climate vulnerabilities and demands at the summit. Bangladesh, recognized as one of the most climate-vulnerable countries, will use this opportunity to address the risks it faces due to climate change. Prof Yunus will engage with various forums at the COP-29 and is scheduled to meet several dignitaries participating in the event. The Conference of the Parti es (COP) takes place annually, with its presidency rotating among the five recognized UN regions. This year, Azerbaijan is the host nation, with the event being held in Baku this November. Known for its capability in hosting international events, Azerbaijan has selected Baku Stadium as the venue for COP-29.
