Dhaka: Some 10.50 lakh taxpayers have completed registration for online income tax return filing using the e-return option of the www.etaxnbr.gov.bd portal, participating voluntarily. The number of online income tax return filings has crossed 2,50,000, according to a National Board of Revenue (NBR) press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the revenue authority is encouraging all taxpayers to file returns online to ensure a smooth and hassle-free service. To facilitate the filing and payment of income tax returns for the tax year 2024-2025, the NBR has opened an online return filing system, making it easier for individual taxpayers to prepare and file their returns using the NBR website.
Taxpayers can pay taxes through various methods such as internet banking, card payment, and mobile banking, and can download and print copies of filed returns, receipts, income tax certificates, and TIN certificates. Additionally, previous year’s e-Returns can also be downloaded and printed.
To assist taxpay
ers, the NBR has established a call centre for resolving e-Return queries, available during office hours. Training has been provided to two IT skilled representatives from all ministries and departments to support employees in the online income tax return filing process.
Moreover, the NBR is training 1600 representatives from banks, telecom service providers, and multinational companies. Taxpayers can report e-Return issues via email through the e-Tax Service option, with resolutions provided promptly.
A video tutorial on online return filing is accessible on the National Board of Revenue webpage, YouTube channel, and Facebook page. The e-Return registration process has become more user-friendly with recent upgrades to the portal.
A special order from the NBR mandates online income tax return filing for government employees in specified locations and sectors. Under the Strengthening Public Financial Management Program to Enable Service Delivery (SPFMS), a ‘challan’ has been formulated for this purpose. Tax
payers can access e-return services from BACS and iBAS++ schemes from 8 am to 10 pm.
In efforts to enhance user experience, several changes have been made to the www.etaxnbr.gov.bd portal, including an upgraded registration system.
