Dhaka: The four newly appointed members of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) took oath today. The members, Md Zahirul Islam Bhuiyan, ASM Golam Hafiz, Dr M Sohel Rahman, and Dr Chowdhury Saima Ferdous, were sworn in at a ceremony held at the Supreme Court Judges' Lounge. Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed administered the oath, while Supreme Court Registrar General Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan conducted the proceedings. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ceremony was attended by officials from both the PSC and the Supreme Court registrar's office, among others. This event follows the recent oath-taking of the newly appointed PSC Chairman, Prof Dr Mobasser Momen, and four other members on October 15. Dr Mobasser Momen, a professor from the Public Administration Department of Dhaka University, was appointed as the new Chairman of the PSC on October 9. The appointments and subsequent oath-taking come after the previous chairman, Md Sohrab Hossain, and 11 members of the PSC resigned on October 8, 2 024. These changes mark a significant transition within the commission, responsible for overseeing public service appointments and ensuring transparency and efficiency in the selection process.
