Jamalpur: An introductory meeting of the new district Corruption Prevention Committee was held at the office of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) in the town on Monday afternoon. ACC Director Moloy Kumar Saha chaired the meeting, which marked the beginning of the committee's efforts to foster mass awareness against corruption. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the 13-member District Corruption Prevention Committee was recently approved by Director General of ACC (Prevention) Md Aktar Hossain for a three-year term. Dr Muzahid Bullah Faruki, the retired principal of Government Asheq Mahmud College, was elected as the President of the committee, while Jahangir Alam Selim, a social worker, was chosen as the General Secretary. Additionally, Advocate Shamim Ara and retired school teacher Monowara Khanam were elected as Vice-Presidents. The committee comprises various members who bring different perspectives and expertise to the table. These include Shamima Khan, a social worker; Md Mukhlesur Rahman, a correspondent for BSS Jamalpur; Arju Miah, an NGO worker; AKM Ashrafuzzaman Shwadhin, a college teacher; Anamika Saed, an entrepreneur; Maulana Akhtaruzzaman Siddiki, an Imam; Goutam Singha Saha, a businessman; Saraswati Rani Rajvor, a school teacher; and Nur Alam Khan Sujan, a lawyer.
