Cox’s Bazar: Sazzadul Hoque Ripon’s stellar century put Chattogram in a commanding position against Dhaka Division on Day 2 of the third round game of the National Cricket League (NCL) at Cox’s Bazar Academy ground today. Ripon’s innings was pivotal as Chattogram amassed a total of 371 before being bowled out, with Dhaka reaching 22 for no loss at stumps.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Parvez Hossain Emon narrowly missed his century, falling just five runs short after being run out on 95. Chattogram resumed the day at 107-1, with Ripon and Emon displaying sustained aggression that shifted momentum in favor of their team. The duo shared a formidable 221-run partnership for the second wicket, which was eventually broken by Emon’s run out. His innings included nine fours and two sixes off 139 balls.
Following Emon’s departure, Ripon Mondol dismissed Sazzadul Ripon, who had struck 14 fours and five sixes in his 185-ball knock of 139. After Ripon’s dismissal, Chattogram lost wickets in quick successio
n. However, valuable contributions from captain Shahadat Hossain Dipu (31) and Shamim Patwari (36) helped them surpass the 350-run mark.
On the bowling front, Ripon Mondol, Anamul Haque, and Shuvagata Hom each claimed two wickets for Dhaka. In response, Dhaka’s openers Ashikur Rahman Shibli (13) and Joyraj Sheikh (9) successfully negotiated the remaining overs, reaching 22 without loss by the end of the day.
