Dhaka: The Police Reform Commission (PRC) has called upon the public to provide their opinions by November 15 on the type of police force they desire, as the government embarks on a process to transform the police into a pro-people and service-oriented entity. Citizens are encouraged to share their thoughts by completing a questionnaire available via a provided link or through the official PRC website.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the opinions collected will be kept confidential and used solely for the purpose of police reform. The initiative comes in response to widespread criticism regarding the recent violent actions of certain police officers during student and public protests. The government has consequently established the PRC to address these concerns and its activities are currently underway.

The commission’s handout emphasizes the urgency of police reform, reflecting the current demand for change. The PRC’s efforts aim to address both national and international criticisms and foster a
more community-focused police force.
