Biannual Election of Metropolitan Journalists Union Scheduled for December 22.

Khulna: The biannual election of the Metropolitan Journalists Union (MUJ) is set to take place on December 22, following a decision made during a general meeting held at the Humayun Kabir Balu auditorium, situated within the Khulna Press Club. Additionally, the bi-annual general meeting of MUJ will be convened on December 21.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a three-member election commission has been established to oversee the forthcoming election. This commission is chaired by senior MUJ member G M Rafiqul Islam, with H M Alauddin and Mizanur Rahman Milton serving as the other two commission members. The meeting was presided over by MUJ president Md Anisujjaman, while acting general secretary Abul Hasan Himaloy conducted the proceedings.

In attendance at the meeting were several notable figures, including former vice president of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Md Rashedul Islam, former BFUJ member HM Alauddin, member secretary of Khulna Press Club and senior MUJ member Rafiul
Islam Tutul, and MUJ treasurer Abdur Razzak Rana, who also addressed the gathering.

After the meeting, a doa mahfil was organized to honor the memory of deceased journalists from both the Bangladesh Federal Journalists Union (BFUJ) and MUJ. This included a tribute to the late BFUJ president Ruhul Amin Gazi and former MUJ president Sheikh Belal Uddin, as well as student martyrs from the anti-discrimination movement. Prayers were also offered for the swift recovery of ailing BFUJ and MUJ members, notably senior MUJ members Monir Uddin Ahmed and Sheikh Didarul Alam.
