In a discussion here today, senior journalists said that photojournalists leave the illusion of their own lives and fulfill their duties with devotion to meet the needs of the nation at critical moments. They came up with the observation at the discussion arranged in celebration of the 28th foundation anniversary of Bangladesh Photojournalists' Association, Rangpur (BPAR) held in a joyful atmosphere at Sumi Community Centre in the city. At the beginning, condolences and silence were observed in the function in honor of the martyrs of the language movement of 1952, the war of liberation of 1971 and the anti-discrimination student-people mass uprising of July and August 2024. BPAR president Mominul Islam Ripon presided over the cake cutting and discussion sessions of the celebration programs. President of Rangpur Journalists' Union Alhaj Salequzzaman Salek, senior journalists Liaqat Ali Badal, Mahbub Rahman Habu and Jewel Ahmed, General Secretary of Rangpur Reporters' Club and Rangpur Journalist s' Union Sarkar Mazharul Mannan, President of Rangpur City Press Club Swapan Chowdhury, its General Secretary Humayun Kabir Manik and Mahiganj Press Club President Bablu Nag, spoke as guests. BPAR General Secretary Asaduzzaman Afzal moderated the event. Convener of the 28th Anniversary Celebration Committee of BPAR Jalal Uddin and its Member-secretary Mezbahul Himel delivered welcome speeches. The speakers said the role of photojournalists in the development of the country and nation is immense and they always perform their duties conscientiously for the national needs. The extraordinary sacrifice of photojournalists will come up only if anyone looks back at the history as photojournalists took pictures and created new glorious histories. Alhaj Salequzzaman Salek said, "All of us can know about the happiness and sorrow of the country and society through the photos taken by photojournalists." Mominul Islam Ripon said photojournalists in this modern era are constantly promoting and spreading fa ir news through their tireless work. "The development of the profession of photojournalists requires government and private patronage," Ripan said, and emphasized the importance of photojournalists taking feature photographs too.
