Kathmandu: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said that overall development would gain momentum only when there was inclusive representation in State agencies.
Inaugurating the broadcast of news in ‘Danuwar’ language in Radio Nepal today, he stressed the need to adopt inclusive system towards establishing conflict free society and maintaining good governance.
Minister Gurung, also the spokesperson of the government, said though small in territorial size Nepal is a big country rich with 123 languages and 127 plus indigenous nationalities.
He clarified that the federal system was introduced to establish equal access of all these communities, religions and languages to the state and get a feeling of ownership among them.
Though there has been a practice of inclusion in the state, proportional inclusion has yet to be institutionalized , he mentioned.
The Radio Nepal has been so far providing news services in 24 national languages, it has added a service in Danuwar lan
guage from today. With this, its news service has been delivered in a total of 25 languages.
The ministry is ever positive in promoting and expanding access of the inclusive language, he said, claiming this is one of the crucial accomplishments of the government within its 100 days action plan.
On the occasion, ministry secretary Radhika Aryal said the broadcast of news in Danuwar language has prepared a base for the protection of the language, culture and history of extincting Danuwar community.
