GP contributes TK 24.44cr to labour welfare fund

Mobile phone operator Grameenphone has

contributed Taka 24.44 crore to Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation Fund,

reaffirming its commitment to worker welfare and responsible corporate

practices.

This contribution represented 10 percent of the company’s workers profit

participation fund (WPPF) for 2023, said a Grameenphone press release today.

A delegation of the operator, led by Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)

Sayeda Tahya Hossain, handed over the cheque to Labour and Employment Adviser

Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain at a ceremony in the ministry’s conference.

Sayeda Tahya Hossain said that Grameenphone is equally dedicated to nurturing

and empowering a diverse and digitally skilled future-ready workforce.

“This contribution reflects the company’s dedication in fostering a work

environment that prioritizes safety and inclusivity for all employees,” added

Hossain.

Under the Bangladesh Labour Act, domestic and foreign companies contribute

one-tenth of 5 percent of their profits to the Labour We
lfare Fund.

Since inception, Grameenphone has so far deposited a total of Taka

2,393,170,603 to the fund.
