Govt-community partnership a must for minimizing Alzheimer disease

Collaboration between the government and community has been stressed for minimizing Alzheimer disease.

At a programme organized here today by the Pokhara Senior Citizen Home on the occasion of the World Alzheimer Day, senior doctor of manipal Teaching Hospital, Dr Devesh Chandra Ghimire said the disease can be minimized in collaboration amiong the families, community and government.

He made it clear that the disease was neither a curse of previous life nor infectious noting such misconceptions have made the disease more complicated.

He said there is no reliable data about the disease of forgetfulness but it can be presumed that the number of sufferers are on the rise.

Central secretary of National Federation of Senior Citizens and press freedom fighter Kusum Keshav Parajuli said the government and the community should work together for the reduction and treatment of Alzheimer disease.
