RMP members to get back mental strength soon: Commissioner

Members of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP)

will get back their mental strength and confidence soon and ensure peace and

tranquility through combating all sorts of social crimes everywhere in the

society.

“We are working relentlessly to overcome the crises related to confidence and

mental strength among our people,” said RMP Commissioner Muhammad Abu Sufiyan

told the news agency at his office today.

On the second day of his joining RMP as new commissioner, he visited 10

police stations today sharing views with his subordinate colleagues. On the

occasion, he also gave directional speech related to discharging duties

properly, particularly what is to be done and what cannot be done.

He said police members staying in the remote police stations and outposts are

still feeling insecure. He hoped that the situation would be overcome

shortly.

He said all the 12 police stations are providing services to the people as

all the policemen joined their respective workplaces within the stipulated

time.

Fr
om now on, police will work neutrally and make friends with people as well

and no more scopes of working as enemies and opponents of people.

In phases, they will hold meetings with a cross-section of people,

particularly the local unit leaders of anti-discrimination students movement

so that they can discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for

the welfare of the public in general.

“We have taken need-based measures to repair the affected installations

immediately to make them fit for works,” he said, adding 140 firearms looted

from police stations and outposts were recovered.

In addition to the RMP Headquarter building, three police stations and an

outpost were badly affected.

Replying to a query RMP Commissioner said 11 cases related to attacks on the

anti-discriminatory students-people movement in July-August were lodged here.

Two people were killed and 61 others were injured in the attacks.

Muhammad Abu Sufiyan joined RMP as its 32nd Commissioner here on Saturday.
