Four criminals held for attacking army in Gopalganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on

Monday arrested four alleged criminals from Gopinathpur area under Sadar

upazila of Gopalganj district on charges of attacking army patrol teams, said

a RAB-6 press release here today.

The arrested are Md Kazi Rafiqul Islam, 53, Gulish Sharif, 54, Sharif Aminul

Haque alias Lachhu Sharif, 55, and Md Mostafizur Rahman alias Mostak Molla,

48.

According to the case statement, the incident occurred at Gopinathpur Bus

Stand area on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway on August 10, criminals equipped with

locally-made weapons blocked the highway and swooped on army patrol cars

while they were on duty.

Criminals obstructed government duty, vandalized and arson upon them leaving

10 army men injured, the press release added.

The arrested confessed their involvement during interrogation, said the press

release, adding that drives will continue to nab other criminals.
