Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujon today called for more fish production as the country earns foreign currency by exporting fish to overseas markets.
“Bangladesh is making progress in all sectors while fish cultivation is more lucrative along with agriculture,” he told a discussion at Debiganj upazila parishad here marking the fisheries week as the chief guest.
Earlier, the minister realized fish fries in Debiganj upazila parishad pond here this afternoon.
“Once the country was lagging behind in fish sector, now fishes are being produced proficiently with the government initiative” Sujon said, adding that Bangladesh is on the right track in all sectors under the present government, led by Sheikh Hasina.
The minister also urged all to cast their votes in favor of Sheikh Hasina in the next national polls.
With Debiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Golam Ferdous in the chair, it was addressed, among others, by Debiganj Municipality Mayor Abu Bakkar Siddique Abu and fisheries officer Abdulla -Al-Imran, among others.
Later, the minister inaugurated the 29th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Awami Swechchhasebak League at Debiganj Rest House.
