Dhaka: Health officials today reported 996 new dengue cases and two deaths across the country in the past 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) report revealed that during this period, 134 dengue patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 103 in Chattogram division, and 251 in Dhaka division. Additionally, 73 cases were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) areas and 67 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas.
Furthermore, the report highlighted that 263 patients were admitted to hospitals in Khulna division, 45 in Mymensingh division, 36 in Rajshahi division, 21 in Rangpur division, and three in Sylhet division.
With these latest figures, the number of dengue-related deaths in Bangladesh has risen to 90 this year, while the total number of cases has reached 33,586.
Last year, the disease claimed 413 lives and infected 102,861 people in the country. In 2024, the mosquito-borne disease claimed 575 lives and infected 101,214 people.
