Chandpur: Ninety-year-old Putul Das is set to receive a new home, thanks to the concerted efforts of Chandpur District BNP President and MP candidate Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the initiative is being executed by District Jubo Dal General Secretary and founding president of Clean Chandpur, Advocate Nurul Amin Khan Akash. The site at Ukil Para, Mochi Bari, where the construction is taking place, was visited on Saturday afternoon by Jubo Dal leader Akash and other local representatives.

The project was initiated after images of Putul Das’s deteriorating home circulated widely on social media, capturing the attention of BNP-nominated MP candidate Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik for Chandpur-3 (Sadar-Haimchar). Upon learning about the elderly woman’s plight, Manik directed the District Jubo Dal General Secretary to act swiftly in reconstructing the house.

Following these instructions, construction commenced immediately, with the new house expected to be ready within two to three days.

Putul Das expressed her heartfelt gratitude, stating, ‘They are building a new house for us. During the rains, it was difficult to stay in the old house-the roof leaked, and water used to fall inside. With winter approaching, we will no longer have to suffer after getting this new home.’

Advocate Nurul Amin Khan Akash shared his thoughts, saying, ‘I personally witnessed the helpless condition of the 90-year-old Putul Das family. I am happy for building this house for her. Initiatives like this will inspire us to stand beside ordinary people in need.’
