88,000 Liters of Illegally Stored Fuel Oil Recovered in 24-Hour Crackdown

Dhaka: Nearly 88,000 liters of illegally stored fuel oil have been recovered through mobile court drives in various districts over the last 24 hours.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a press release issued by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources today detailed the seizure, which included 67,400 liters of diesel, 6,444 liters of octane, and 13,856 liters of petrol. A total of 391 mobile courts were conducted across the country during the period to prevent illegal hoarding of fuel and ensure a normal supply system.

In these drives, 191 cases were filed, and fines amounting to Tk 935,070 were realized. Meanwhile, one person in Satkhira was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment, one in Chandpur to one year, and another in Gazipur to one month.

The Energy and Mineral Resources Division stated that such drives will continue to ensure an uninterrupted fuel supply and prevent irregularities. It added that executive magistrates of the Energy Department are carrying out regular patrols in different parts of the country, including Dhaka. The authorities have requested people to contact the Vigilance Team through its designated number if they notice any irregularities or receive information about suspicious activities.
